“One of the reasons for creating the Summer Arts Jam festival was to bring in audiences for both music and art,” said Chris Tuohy, music director. “The idea behind the festival
is to bring in people to stimulate the economy in Stanwood. We want to appeal to a wider audience, similar to the Anacortes Arts Festival.”
Tuohy gathered a slate of musicians to enliven the festival. “I try to put together a lineup of people playing different genres of music so there’s a variety of music for the audience to
enjoy,” he said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun.” Musicians will come from Bellingham to Seattle to entertain:
- Friday — Kevin Kieneker, percussive acoustic guitarist who plays like crazy; Cool Water, harmony-driven folk rock; Randy Norris and the Full Degree with a blend of blues, soul, funk, R&B and classic rock.
- Saturday — Marcia Kester, a one-woman band with a taste of rock in the country tunes and a dash of country in the rock; The Naughty Blokes, writing and performing classic rock for the modern age;
- Mojo Cannon, a high-energy 10-piece R&B band “with horns.”
- Sunday — Stanwood High School Booster Band and A-Town Big Band, playing vintage swing.
