Gabriel is excited to collaborate with FORTÉ this weekend! A first generation Mexican-American, and soon to be resident of Camano Island, he is becoming a much sought-after character tenor. He just made his debut with Opera Omaha singing the role of “The Witch” in their children’s production of Hansel and Gretel.
Gabriel is under the tutelage and mentoring of 27 year-retired veteran of the MET, and star on the new Golden Globe & Emmy award-winning HBO series Boardwalk Empire, Anthony Laciura. The New York Times raved about his “brilliant stage presence and superb comic talent” for his 2009 performance in Martina Arroyo’s Die Zauberflöte. He has performed in operas such as Les Dialogues des Carmélites, IL Tabarro, Gianni Schicchi, Falstaff and Les Contes d’Hoffman. He made his Weill Recital Hall debut in Carnegie hall in 2008 with Elysium between two continents and again with Pacific Encore Performances in 2009. He debuted with Phoenix Opera singing the role of Goro in their production of Madama Butterfly in early 2010 and was invited back for their production of Die Zauberflöte in late 2010. He has worked with conductors from the MET, Bavarian State Opera, and around the U.S. such as Dan Sanders, Laurent Pillot, John Massaro and Steven White.
Gabriel earned his Bachelors from Western Washington University and his Masters from the Manhattan School of Music. Gabriel is the head of fundraising for the Opus 7 Vocal Ensemble in Seattle and has taken on the role of impresario starting his own production company “Gabriel Gargari Productions Inc.” in 2010, will open a voice studio in the winter of 2012.
